Certainly, we are happy to offer as much help as you require. We can check on your parents daily or whenever it suits, to ensure that your mum gets the extra care she needs which would make your dad’s life easier. Right now, he may like to go out for an hour or two now and then once a week or so perhaps, and as your mum’s condition progresses, extra help for her, such as personal care, bathing, or dressing in the morning might be appreciated while he has his breakfast. We can continue to keep an eye on both of them for you as time goes on. Whatever it takes, so that your parents can enjoy their home life as normally as possible.
A visit from our team can be from 30 minutes to one or even several hours, depending on your needs. To give you an idea, we find that for most clients, 30 minutes gives time to prepare a light meal and if required check that medication is being taken correctly. Usually an hour is enough for a housework visit, chat and cup of tea, or a walk in the park. An hour or two is sufficient for a weekly food shopping trip together with the carer, who can then help put away the shopping. Social trips, pr theatre trips of course are as long as it takes. But as your needs change, the visits can be shorter or longer as required with consultation with your care management team.
